Engaging Young Readers One Book at a Time

Launching An Epic Adventure for Young Time Travelers!

Welcome back! You have made it to day 3 of my book launch for my new book, “Magical Fashion Show Contest!”

Happy Wednesday, July, 16, 2025!

Today, we are going to talk about the third paragraph on the back of my book.

So it looks like they found items from the 90s, 70s and 50s!

I can’t tell you how much fun I had talking to my family and friends about these decades. My growing teen years were in the “groovy 70’s.” I didn’t have to reach far to remember the 90s as those were the years we were raising our sons. The 50s were a little trickier to find, but Google and Facebook posts helped a lot.

Question of The Day

What period or decade would you like to find in Grandmother’s attic?

*Answer in the comment section below for a chance to win a $10.00 ecard for Amazon. See Rules below.*

Reminder of The Rules:

USA players only. You must be 18 years or older and have a valid USA Amazon account since an ecard will be sent. (Sorry international friends. I learned the hard way how sometimes these ecards have a hard time sending.) With that being said, you also must have a valid email that you are willing to share through my email account at my Books by Rose email. (Please do not share your email here in my blog.) Let me know if you have any questions.

(Although this book launch will be announced on Facebook and other social media sites, it is not affiliated with them and only here at Books by Rose.)

FIVE winners will be announced Monday, July 21, 2025. (If winners do not respond within 72 hours of contact, I will have to move the winnings to the next person. Watch for a message from me, “Books by Rose,” Rosie Russell.

If you win, here are some wonderful authors to consider looking into. I know you will have fun learning more about their books.

About the author

Sonja McGiboney creates children’s books. Her Jazzy’s Books series are full of beautiful photographs and are geared to help young children with concepts such as the alphabet, counting, friendship, shapes, and self-worth.

From modest beginnings, of a photo album turned into a book, Sonja embarked on a self-publishing journey. She likes to say, “In the beginning, I did it all wrong.” That is because the more she learned, the more she realized what she didn’t know in the beginning, like having an author website with her name rather than her dog’s name. After eight years, Sonja continues to learn the industry and is always willing to share her knowledge of self-publishing to help new writers.

Sonja is published in two anthologies. Her works in progress include more picture books, several MG novels, and three adult fiction novels. Her collection of short stories (for adults) is currently with an editor. She is happy to share that her first chapter book, A Night in Lacey Manor, launched in March, 2025.

In her spare time, Sonja teaches piano, is learning to play the violin, enjoys photographing animals, and taking long car trips to photograph scenic roads in the U.S.

About the author

Jessica D. Adams writes children’s books about The Underground Toy Society that aim to teach children to love and appreciate what they have, think of others, and hopefully clean their rooms. Jessica’s two daughters are the inspiration for the books, as well as co-illustrators for many of the books. Jessica also wrote short time travel books, Meeting Grandmom and Back to Grandmom, which are great stories for kids as well as adults to remember or talk about lost loved ones and family history.

Jessica has visions of The Underground Toy Society traveling around the world, with many books being created to help teach children to clean their rooms, appreciate what they have, and think of those who may not have as much. While the goals of the books are to help kids want to clean their rooms, appreciate what they have, and think of others, there are no guarantees that kids will learn these lessons. These books are for entertainment purposes and individual results may vary.

About the author

Hailing from the Bay Area of California, Carmela Dutra cherishes her family, rainy days, and making others laugh.

Carmela has always had a deep connection with art and writing, and that love drove her to become an author. After years of working on children’s picture books and being recognized with awards, she transitioned to the adult market with her writing. Crafting cozy mysteries filled with emotion and love, she strives to bring a smile to the faces of her readers.

When she’s not writing, Carmela drinks too much coffee and over-cuddles her allergy-inducing cats and dog. Married to her best friend, they are raising two sons who are wild about dinosaurs. She’s a fan of The Big Bang Theory and M*A*SH*, watching them repeatedly. Her dream is to write stories that have an impact, making readers laugh, or even cry, but always making them feel better when they finish.

Rosie, I didn’t have time yesterday to respond to this. Thank you so much for the shout out. Since I read the book, I’m not participating but I hope you have a great turnout and sell tons!

    • rosieadmin

Thank you so much, Sonja! 🙂
You are so welcome and I appreciate all you do.
Your books bring joy to my heart every time I read them. Those Jazzy stories are adorable and all your others, too.
      Thank you always,
      ~Rosie

  2. Julie Gorges

We’re the same age, so I’d have the most fun finding stuff from the 70’s. It would bring back a lot of fun memories!

    • rosieadmin

Yes Julie, the 70s were fun times and it’s always fun to think about that decade. 🙂 Loved the bright, cheerful colors, and the music was pretty great too!

  3. Carmela

Oh this is such a fun post! Thanks for the mention, that was so kind. I hope you’re having a great book launch week 🩵

  4. Marilynn Hemenway

Congratulations on your new book. I’d like to see stuff from the late sixties and early seventies. That’s when I spent the most time with you and your family.

    • rosieadmin

Thank you so much for your well wishes, Marilyn.
Awe, to go back then when we knew nothing about life other than to seek all the fun around the next corner. I’m with you. I’d want to go back to all those matinee’ shows we attended. Play “Spoons,” with you and your sisters. Those were some good times, for sure.
      Thanks again,
      ~Rosie

  5. Jessica Adams

Thanks so much for the mention, Rosie!
I can relate to Sonja because I too realize all the mistakes I made in the beginning! It’s so hard to go back and start over though. While I didn’t name my website after a dog, I do wish I would have just used my name for my website since I ended up publishing more books other than The Underground Toy Society. You were smart and used Books by Rose as your name!
Anyway, I’d like to find things from the 80s in Grandmother’s attic!

    • rosieadmin

You are so welcome and I thank you for all you do!
What a journey this has been, right? I look back at my earlier works and have learned so much since then and I’m still learning. Would I give those projects back? No, because I have wonderful memories of each and every one of them.
Names are hard, but I like what you have done with yours and I think it has fit well.
Loved the 80s and I don’t have to reach far for item. Our sons were born then and we still have many of their things. I almost wanted to use that decade in this story, but I had to do the math on the ages of all the characters and it wouldn’t have made sense. 🙂
      Again, thanks always, Jessica!

  6. Ariane

Happy 3rd day of your book launch Rosie ! This sounds like a lot of fun . I would definitively love to find some stuff from the 80s 😀 . Have a lovely day 😀 .

    • rosieadmin

Thank you so much, Ariane. There is a mention of the 80s in the book, but not about the triplets.
Like I told Jessica, I remember the 80s and we are still trying to “give back” some of our son’s treasures from those times. I was so busy raising them at the time, I have to try and remember what it was like. I remember MTV and some of the popular music, the clothes, but mainly the hairstyles. 🙂
Enjoy the rest of your day and thanks again.
      ~Rosie
