Engaging Young Readers One Book at a Time

In The Art Zone at Books by Rose

We have a name for this new page! Thanks to all who voted. I went ahead and added, “at Books by Rose” to make it even more unique. Next, I’ll work on an image to feature at the top of this page.

What This Page Will Be About

Here’s a list of what this page will feature. I’m looking forward to adding interviews with artists of all walks of life. I’ll share some projects I’m working on from time to time, and may even do some giveaways, too. 🙂

Just like the list I’ve mentioned before, I’ll be on the lookout for the following types of art to add to this family-friendly page.

Visual Arts

Performing Arts

Literary Arts

Decorative Arts

Media Arts

Applied Arts

Culinary Arts

Traditional and Folk Arts

And, so many more!

Why A New Page?

After writing my recent middle-grade book, “Magical Fashion Show Contest,” I realized how much I missed the colorful art involved in the process. After being a picture book illustrator for eleven plus years now, I didn’t know how much that would affect me.

Since my recent book is full of black and white sketches, I found myself delaying the writing as I tried to find a way to extend the book with other activities such as coloring pages for readers to make.

I actually took lots of time making image after image, which I loved doing. When looking into “fashion” type coloring books available, I found way too many to pursue this idea.

Then This Happened!

I stopped “the art part” for the book and moved on to writing and added some art projects from the triplet’s picture books. After all, this one is for older readers and they will be able to manage the projects much better. (If you’ve read the book, you’ll know what I mean.)

So, I finished the book with a sigh of relief, knowing I had an idea in the back of my mind that the art I had been missing would become a new page. 🙂

Then I Had Another Idea!

Let’s Feature Artists On A Separate Page!

So, that is what we will do!

Ooh, art! Now, that can mean a lot of things, right?

Here’s a list of just a few…

Performing Arts

Literary Arts

Decorative Arts

Media Arts

Applied Arts

Culinary Arts

Traditional and Folk Arts

And, so many more!

Thanks again, everyone!

Keep watching for more to come,

Rosie

How about “Ink & Imagination.” (FYI I cheated and asked AI for suggestions and I liked this one best.) Love your idea for a new page. How fun!
