Let me know if you have any questions.

(Although this book launch will be announced on Facebook and other social media sites, it is not affiliated with them and only here at Books by Rose.)

Goodreads Challenge 2025

As you can probably guess, I haven’t had much time to read like I normally do, but I did manage to get these books in.

These three books received 5 stars from me…

"The Business of Being a Writer, Second Edition," by Jane Friedman

“The Business of Being a Writer, Second Edition,” by Jane Friedman is a comprehensive resource for writers who aspire to turn their passion into a profession.

I read and listened to her audiobook. It was best to absorb the wealth of information she provides in small increments.

Friedman guides writers by offering practical advice on how to build a personal platform, including valuable website information, too.

With her blend of research and practical wisdom, Friedman encourages writers, both beginners and veterans, to approach their careers with creativity and resilience. Her advice is easy to understand. “The Business of Being a Writer” is a keeper and serves as a roadmap for establishing a fulfilling and sustainable writing career.

I highly recommend this book to all writers. I wish I had read this one when I first started this journey.

"Bernice Buttman, Model Citizen," by Niki Lenz,

Middle Grade Book

As an adult reading, “Bernice Buttman, Model Citizen,” by Niki Lenz, I gave it 5 stars.
It has lots and lots of clichés, which were clever and funny to move the story along.
I could see some of the situations mentioned in this story not so fitting for some groups. I’m curious what middle-grade readers thought of this book. I do think they would cheer for Bernice as she moves and grows through the story.
The descriptions of settings and characters did add humor to this tale.

"Right Back at You," by Carolyn Mackler

Middle Grade Book

“Right Back at You,” by Carolyn Mackler has crafted a fun, interesting, and super relatable tale for Middle Grade readers about discovering that perfect friend… even if they happen to be from a different time!

Mason’s just trying to get through 2023. His parents are going through a hard time, and this kid at school just won’t leave him alone. He decides to write a letter to Albert Einstein, but things get a bit too real. He ends up tossing the letter into his closet.

The next day, he gets a letter from this girl named Talia, and guess what? She lives in 1987! She’s dealing with her own issues, too. (I won’t reveal her problems here. I don’t want to give that part away.)

She thought her friends, especially the one friend she grew up with, would support her. It turns out, the only one she can chat with is… a random boy from 2023.

This story is cleverly written and readers will learn a lot about how times have changed over the years.

That’s all I have for today.

Let us know about you and what plans you have for July. I hope you all had a wonderful 4th, and your summer is going as planned.

Until Monday,

Happy July and Happy Summer!

Happy July 2025!

As always,

Happy reading,

Rosie
