Which paperback book will the winner choose?

Here are the instructions for this contest.

Your story does not have to be long, it can even be a paragraph. You can write a poem if you wish. The only requirement, is to remember to use the TEN words below in your story, and as always, your post is family friendly.

Each story entered, will be included in a drawing for a free paperback copy of your choice from Books by Rose. (Those outside of the USA will receive a $10.00 gift card from Amazon.)

If you use the bonus word, your name will be entered twice.

***Feel free to send an image along with your story.***

An example of a quick story I wrote:

When Jake’s teacher announced their writing assignment was a Valentine’s poem, he was not happy one bit. Blah, Valentine’s Day, Jake thought.

He ran home after school to play catch with his dog named Cain. He wished more than ever he could live the life as his pup right now.

“Dogs don’t have to go to school and write poems about flowers, roses, and words about love,” Jake grumbled.

Jake decided right then and there, he was going to write a poem about his best friend.

My Best Friend

Valentine’s Day is here again,

an assignment is due today.

Writing of things such as flowers and hearts,

is really just never my way.

Gooey dark chocolate, it’s great,

red, white and pink candy, the rage.

I’d rather spend time with my sweet friend and mate,

than be in this blazing red craze.

This story idea and poem was inspired by one of my books called:

“A Search and Find of Every Kind with Jake and his dog named Cain.”

The inspiration for this book came from our youngest son Jake and his dog.

By the way, he and his brother were always okay with Valentine’s Day and gave straight from their hearts every time.

Thank you guys!

Good luck on the contest and….

Happy Writing!

Rosie

I will pick a random winner to those that submit stories and poems. If I had to choose, I just couldn’t. The ones I’m seeing so far are wonderful. Check back in on Feb. 14th to see their awesome stories!
      Thanks again Cat,

Thank you Sandra. I love Valentine’s Day and have been thinking of doing something like this for awhile now. Poems and little stories seem to fit this holiday. I’m looking forward to the stories that will be sent in as well.

  4. Bob Russell

On Valentines day, I love sweet dark chocolate candy, shaped like a heart, and many pink and red rose flowers.
If you have any of the above, sharing with me would be a kindness 🙂

    • Rosie Russell

      Love your poem Bob!
I know how you are about your dark chocolate candy bars. As far as the flowers goes, they might have to be artificial….you know that Lola. She loves them so much!
Yes, I will be sure to share.
Your poem and note filled my heart with all your kindness.
      Thanks Bob!

What a wonderful post and timely idea, Rose! Love the poem sample — well done! I am like Jake, Valentines Day is not really my thing, but your poem sparked my interest and will see if I can come up with something. At least one of the assigned words wasn’t “Orange”, that would be tougher in a poem! But as you know, Little Red Bear and I are all about “Kindness” and that is a very appropriate Bonus Word. So, we’ll see. Great post! 🤠🐻

    • Rosie Russell

Oh I know you and Little Red Bear will come up with something great.
No, it’s not a day for everyone. I’m not sure what has made me love this day. I know it has a lot to do with the colors involved, those are my favorite. Another thing that always comes to mind, is how special our mom made Valentine’s Day. One year our assignment at school was to make our decorated boxes for the cards. Do they still do that? Anyway, we made the cutest little mailbox with the little flag you raise up and down. (In all honesty, she did most the work.) I have never forgotten that memory, so maybe that’s another reason why it’s special.
I can’t wait to see what you and Little Red Bear come up with.
Orange is a tough word to match.
I appreciate your kindness in writing for your note today James.
Thanks and have a great weekend.
      Rosie

  6. Carmela

    How fun is this idea!

    • Rosie Russell

Thanks Carmela! I hope you and your little guy will write a poem or story for us. (Yes, it can include bacon.) 😉
      Thanks for stopping by today.
      Have a wonderful weekend!
      Rosie
